Environmental evolution has endowed cacti with formidable defenses to protect precious resources. As well as some of the rarest, showiest blooms found in nature, in the name of attracting pollinators.
As a result, cacti embody at least a small handful of intriguing paradoxes. All at once, they are unreservedly threatening and uncommonly beautiful. They’re also capable of exhibiting randomness alongside the perfect order of sacred geometry.
Cacti are concertina wire conduits through which Mother Nature displays her ability to meld form with function and art with arithmetic, while hinting at the deeper connections found throughout the natural world.
